For Zafira Vurba Woodski, the process of changing legal gender has been long and difficult.

- It was painful in that I have experienced a lot of sadness, over the fact that I have had to wait so long, says Zafira Vurba Woodski.

Today, the change of legal gender, ie the social security number, is closely linked to the change of biological gender and requires, among other things, a medical diagnosis and that you must have lived as the gender you feel like for at least a year.

Only after having been approved by the National Board of Health and Welfare's legal council can you change your social security number.

But on November 9, the Ministry of Social Affairs sent out a new proposal for modernization of the Gender Equality Act for consultation.

Among other things, it is proposed that children from the age of twelve should be able to change their legal gender, with the consent of the guardian.

- One way to go could be to gender neutralize our social security numbers, says Zafira Vurba Woodski.
