November 14, 2021Serbia, Spain and Croatia win the qualification for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Portugal, Sweden and Russia in the play-offs in March. This is the verdict after the final matches of groups A, B and H. The three national teams are added to Denmark (group F), Germany (J), France (D) and Belgium (E), who obtained the pass before the last day, and to Brazil, the only South American at the moment already mathematically qualified.

Group A, Serbia surprisingly wins in Lisbon and forces Portugal into the play-offs

Serbia flies to the World Cup, the doors of the play-offs open for Portugal. The challenge in Lisbon, direct clash for the first place in qualifying group A, is resolved with the incredible success of the guests who, in the 89th minute, find the goal with Mitrovic that is worth the ticket to Qatar, condemning the Lusitanians - to whom Even the draw would have been enough, being able to boast, with the same points, a better goal difference - in the play-offs in March. Al Da Luz seems to be doing well immediately for the hosts who unlock it after just over 90 seconds with Renato Sanches. But Serbia does not give up, the wood stops Vlahovic but in the 33rd minute there is the equal of Tadic, with the complicity of the Giallorossi goalkeeper Rui Patricio who lets the ball slip away awkwardly. In the second half a lucky rebound leads to the Portuguese almost 2-1 after theYet another foray by Renato Sanches, Serbia finds no gaps but one minute from 90 'Tadic's cross from the left finds Mitrovic's winning streak on the far post. For Ronaldo and his associates it becomes very hard.

In the other match of the group, irrelevant for the ranking, Ireland won 3-0 in Luxembourg with goals in the second half from Duffy, Ogbene and Robinson.

RANKING: Serbia 20 points; Portugal 17; Luxembourg and Ireland 9; Azerbaijan 1.

Group B, Spain overtakes Sweden

A Ibra fails the feat, Spain goes to the World Cup while Sweden remains clinging to the play-offs. The qualifying group B is decided in Seville where the Red Furies, after overtaking on Thursday with the help of Georgia, successfully defend the first place and snatch the ticket for Qatar by winning 1-0 against the Swedes thanks to a close touch by Morata in the 86th minute, able to reiterate on the net with a lob a rejected by Olsen on the crossbar after a great shot by Dani Olmo. To complete the picture of the group, in Athens, the 1-1 draw between Greece and Kosovo. One goal in each half: Masouras for the Greeks in the first half, the Neapolitan Rrahmani for the Kosovars in the second half.

RANKING: Spain 19 points; Sweden 15; Greece 10; Georgia 7; Kosovo 5.

Group J: Macedonia hopes, Romanians out, Germany's poker

The world dream remains alive for North Macedonia. Milevski's national team successfully defends second place - which is worth the pass for the play-offs - in group J of world qualification (already won by Germany), thanks to Skopje's 3-1 success in Skopje over Iceland with a brace from Neapolitan Elmas and a network of Alioski. Nothing to do for Romania, for which the 2-0 victory (with Man and Bancu goals) in Vaduz against Liechtenstein is not enough. Armenia also remains out, which should have hoped for a double misstep by rivals and beat Germany but in Yerevan Mannschaft drops poker and wins with a clear 4-1, Gundogan (brace), Havertz and Hofmann on the net. The rigor transformed by the Romanist Mkhitaryan is useless for the Armenians.

RANKING: Germany 27 points;

North Macedonia 18;

Romania 17;

Armenia 12;

Iceland 9;

Liechtenstein 1.

Group H, Croatia wins the play-off in Split against Russia

Croatia at the World Cup, Russia in the play-offs.

This is the verdict of the last day of qualifying group H where the 'play-off' between the first two forces of the group was staged in Split.

The hosts won, who broke the Russian resistance nine minutes from 90 minutes, thanks to Kudryashov's own goal.

Three points that allow Croatia to overtake on the wire, taking that first place that is worth direct access to Qatar 2022 while Russia will have to go through the play-offs.

As for the other two challenges, Slovenia's 2-1 win over Cyprus in Ljubljana (on the net for the hosts Zajc in the 48th minute and Čerin in the 84th minute, for the guests Kakoullis in the 89th minute), while at National Stadium of Ta'Qali goleada of Slovakia, which overwhelms Malta 6-0 (brace from Rusnak, trio from Duda and goal from De Marco).

RANKING: Croatia 23 points; Russia 22; Slovakia and Slovenia 14; Malta and Cyprus 5.
