The Emir of Kuwait issues two Amiri decrees pardoning and reducing sentences

Today, Saturday, the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, issued two Amiri decrees pardoning and reducing the sentence imposed on 35 people.

The Official Gazette "Kuwait Al-Youm" published two Amiri decrees that pardon and reduce the sentences imposed on some people.

The two decrees, which will be published in the newspaper's issue tomorrow, Sunday, included 35 names.

Decree No. 202 of 2021 regarding amnesty for the remainder of the sentence imposed on some people included 11 names.

The decree included five articles, the first of which stipulated the following: “Partial discrimination shall be exempted from implementing the remainder of the sentence restricting freedom imposed on the following persons in Case No. 1541 of 2017.”

While Decree No. 203 of 2021 regarding amnesty and reducing the penalty period imposed on some people included 24 names.

The decree included six articles, the first article of which states:

Paragraph A of Article One of Decree Case No. 901 of 2016 included partial discrimination of two persons.

Paragraph B of Article One of the decree included Case No. 1066 of 2019 partial discrimination against four persons.

The second article of the decree stipulates the following: “The duration of the custodial sentence imposed on each of the following persons in Case No. 901 of 2016 partial discrimination shall be reduced by half” and included 18 names.

The Council of Ministers had addressed the Ministry of Information to publish the Emiri Decree No. 202 and 203 of 2021, in the Official Gazette, on Sunday, 14th of this month.
