It is the

electricity

bill

that since September has affected the Spaniards the most. But now with the supply crisis, everything is increasing in chain: butane, gasoline, basic food. Electricity has increased by 62% in one year, gasoline by 26%, diesel by 30%, olive oil by 26% ... Inflation is so high that the recent increase in wages minimum and pensions are 3 to 4 points below the cost of living.

Rosario works in a small restaurant in the east of Madrid.

She is very worried about the near future.

“

Yes, it affects me, and a lot of people like me,

” she said.

Because the money will run out to pay for housing and get by with all these crazy prices like electricity or food.

"

The fall in purchasing power is by far the subject that most worries the Spaniards according to the latest polls.

Electricity is so expensive that many households use their appliances in the evenings or on weekends, when the price is lower.

Ramon, a retiree, is not surprised by this crisis.

“

It's the

result

of everything we've been going through for a year and a half,

” he said.

The problem of transport, freight, whatever seems to be a chain, right?

And in the end, all this dynamic results in a rise in prices.

 "

The head of government Pedro Sanchez had promised in September that the reduction in certain taxes would offset the decline in purchasing power.

He didn't think this fall was going to be so dramatic.

So much so that many already know that these Christmas celebrations will be less abundant than usual.
