November 13, 2021Poland intends to significantly strengthen the border with Belarus with the construction of a wall, by mid-2022. This was announced by Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminsky, speaking on Rmf FM radio. "We want the fence to be installed by the end of the first half of 2022, it will be a structure 180 kilometers long, 5.5 meters high and the most modern solutions will be used," he said.

"We are using a different type of safety system along the Bug River," he added. According to the minister, now the border with Belarus - where the crisis of migrants massed at the border to enter the EU broke out - is manned by 13,000 soldiers, 4,500 border guards and two thousand police officers.

"We are constantly provoked, but our services are well prepared," Kaminsky said. The construction of the anti-migrant wall was approved by the Polish Parliament in October. Poland, Lithuania and Latvia in recent months have seen an increase in the flow of illegal immigrants trying to enter the EU via Belarus. The European Union accuses Minsk of causing ad hoc chaos at the borders of the EU, as a retaliation for the sanctions imposed by Brussels on the regime of Aleksandr Lukashenko. Neighboring states and the European Commission have accused the Belarusian authorities of "hybrid warfare".

Poland could cut off rail traffic with Belarus, the Polish interior minister also said.

Belarusians "know well enough that we can close more transit points, such as rail traffic. Belarus is an important transit country," Kaminski stressed speaking on RMF radio.

Putin: "We have nothing to do with the migrant crisis"

"I want everyone to know. We have nothing to do" with the migrant crisis on the border between Belarus and Poland. The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, said this in an interview with the state broadcaster Vesti, after Poland and other Western countries accused Moscow of working with Minsk to orchestrate the sending of migrants to the EU borders. The Moscow Times reports it.

Biden: "Great concern"

US President Joe Biden expressed "great concern" about the situation of migrants on the border between Belarus and Poland. This was announced by the White House. His administration has communicated concerns to Moscow and Minsk. "We think it's a problem," he explained.

Dead body of a migrant found on the border with Belarus

Polish police found the lifeless body of a migrant in the area bordering Belarus, where thousands of irregular migrants attempting to enter the European Union are currently trapped.

The man was identified as a 20-year-old of Syrian nationality, a police spokesman said, according to the Pap agency.

The body was discovered by a forest worker in a forest near the village of Wolka Terechowska.

The man had a Syrian passport.

This is not the first lifeless body found in the border area, where climatic conditions are worsening, with the lowering of temperatures due to winter.
