November 13, 2021 The president of the COP26 climate conference, Alok Sharma, opening the plenary meeting, appealed to the delegates present in Glasgow to accept the draft declaration, noting that it is "balanced" and that it is a step forward "for all". "Everyone was able to express themselves and I hope my colleagues will appreciate what was put on the table," said Sharma. "My intention is that we close this COP this afternoon," he added.

In the final draft of the Cop26 conference "there is a consensus that has been missing for too long," he said. "This is the moment of truth for the Planet, the world wants us bold," said Sharma, "underlining that the text developed is the result of a" transparent process, "  inclusive ", based on listening.

The COP26 in Glasgow was supposed to close yesterday, but it was not possible to find an agreement between the states on some thorny points, and the work has been updated to today.

The plenary was supposed to start at noon, but it opened two and a half hours late with the delegates meeting earlier to discuss the most critical points, in particular the absence of a specific mechanism to compensate for "loss and damage" caused by climate change, requested by the poorest countries.
