After a week of tensions in eastern Europe, 3,000 to 4,000 migrants are still trapped, frozen on the border between Poland and Belarus.

"Cannon fodder," said Clément Beaune, Secretary of State for European Affairs, on Thursday.

Europe 1 went there.

REPORTING

An explosive situation.

Belarus and Russia deny having brought in several thousand migrants to foment a crisis at the gates of Europe.

The fate of these thousands of people, frozen on the border between Poland and Belarus, moves Polish elected officials, so much so that they begin to wonder about the outcome to be given to this crisis.

Europe 1 met them in Michalowo, in the northeast of the country.

"They are going to freeze to death"

You have to find a balance between firmness and welcome.

Maintain border controls and set up a humanitarian corridor, insists Maria Ancipiuk, the president of the deputies of Michalowo.

She believes that migrants already in the territory must be taken care of: "It scares me, they will freeze to death."

"We must resolve this crisis, welcome these people, more control their situation by preventing them from losing their lives in the forest. They have come here with their money. If we leave them alone, they will have bought their death."

But for Marek Nazarko, mayor of the city, we must already plan the next move.

"We feel abandoned by the politicians ... Let the migrants concentrate here, a few meters from our houses? No thank you. We should think about distributing them."
