Latvian parliament bans unvaccinated deputies from participating in its sessions

The Latvian parliament has decided not to allow deputies who are not vaccinated against the Corona virus to participate in its sessions.

Parliament in Riga has decreed that members of parliament and members of city and municipal councils in the country must submit a Corona certificate by November 15.

This certificate proves that the person has been vaccinated against the Corona virus or that he has recovered from the infection.

The approved certificate is used today, Friday, and is valid until July 1, 2022, in all face-to-face meetings as well as digital meetings.

The certification also provides for the suspension of diet payments to MPs who are unable to work in Parliament.

According to a report by Radio Latvia, 91 out of 100 members of the national parliament and 696 out of 758 members of municipal councils have a corona certificate.

Sixty-two deputies voted in favor of the law, 7 voted against and two abstained.
