12 November 2021 Italian parents went to Ukraine in August 2020 to have a child through a surrogate mother. The client couple, however, after the birth of the little girl, decided to abandon her and leave her in the custody of a babysitter in Kiev.

After the recognition of the child, the couple returned to Italy, leaving the child to a nanny found on the spot through an interim agency, and then disappeared. The babysitter received a salary for the care of the newborn but at the end of the first year of life, having no longer heard from the parents and following the stop of the agreed salary also for the support of the child, the woman decided to contact the Consulate Italian to report what happened.

After the nanny approached the Italian Consulate in Kiev, the matter was brought before the Prosecutor's Office with territorial jurisdiction in Italy and the Prosecutor's Office for Minors. Once the parents were traced, it was ascertained that they did not want to take back the little girl born a year earlier.

The child was then taken to Italy with a flight from Kiev to Malpensa, on 11 November and will be entrusted to a family who will adopt her and take her home as a daughter.

The return operation to Italy was coordinated by the International Police Cooperation Service (SCIP) together with the Italian Red Cross, which was requested to collaborate. In the team organized for the entry of the little girl in Italy, the Red Cross has included a pediatrician and a Red Cross nurse. The pediatrician took care of the health aspects of the little girl while the volunteer nurse took care of the little girl. The baby traveled with her favorite soft toys, delivered by the babysitter when the baby left.

The volunteer pediatrician of the Italian Red Cross explained that: "

The child's condition is good

.

Fortunately, the nanny who looked after her until yesterday loved her very much and took great care of her.

As always, the Red Cross protects humanity and actively works to guarantee the right of adults and minors to be protected. "

The practice of rented uterus is prohibited in many European countries, such as Italy. In Ukraine, surrogacy is permitted for this reason many couples go there as patrons of children.
