The public prosecutor in the French city of Laval said today, Friday, that a French girl who said she was kidnapped while jogging, admitted to making up the kidnapping story.
The Public Prosecutor's Office said that there is no information yet on the motive behind the behavior of the 17-year-old girl.
The girl had left her home to go jogging near a wooded area on Monday afternoon.
Her father informed the gendarmerie when she did not return home.
Nearly 200 police, sniffer dogs and divers were sent on a large-scale search.
The girl was found a few kilometers away in the village of Sables-sur-Sart on Tuesday evening.
According to media reports, she suffered minor injuries and shock.
According to the Public Prosecution Office, the girl initially said she was attacked and taken to a house in a car, but managed to escape from her kidnappers.
She now admitted to making up the story.
She stated that she was injured due to an accident and went to Sable Sur by herself
The girl apologized for causing a large-scale search.
