Hear the politicians 'views on what in the future will be a citizens' house - in the clip.

With the numbers 47-14, the council in Uddevalla decided to proceed with the plans for a new town hall by entering into a collaboration agreement with Arwidsro Samhällfastigheter.

According to municipal councilor Ingemar Samuelsson, the current town hall is old and worn, which has a negative effect on the working environment.

It is believed that there are several benefits to placing it in the center;

on the one hand, it can benefit the local business community, but it is also hoped to be able to gather several businesses under one roof to create a so-called citizens' house.

Criticism from several parties

The criticism has been about why an external company is allowed to build the premises, which are then rented by the municipality, but also the size and cost of the project.

The Sweden Democrats and the Christian Democrats wanted to wait to approve the plans and instead arrange a referendum.

- We do not know what it will cost, says Martin Pettersson (SD).

According to the plan, the citizens' house will, in addition to municipal administration, also contain a city library, cultural school, restaurant and meeting rooms.

If everything goes according to plan, moving in will take place in five years.
