The glass prism house breaks the view from Landborgen, as does the 14-storey World Trade Center.

Both houses are landmarks in the newly built Ocean Harbor.

- It became too loud and too dense, says a self-critical Jan Björklund (S), opposition councilor.

He is supported by Maria Winberg Nordström (L), municipal councilor, whose party is part of the ruling alliance in Helsingborg.

Both parties were behind the building plans in both the city planning committee and the municipal council.

Want to put the construction on pause

Now both regret it.

- We must be careful with the line of sight, says Maria Winberg Nordström.

- But it was not a discussion then.

Both party representatives want to learn from history.

Maria Winberg Nordberg wants clearer visual models, which show how the view from Landborgen will be affected in the upcoming expansion of Oceanhamnen.

Jan Björklund wants the entire construction project to be put on hold.

Full agreement

Christian Orsing (M), chairman of the city planning committee, emphasizes that the processes behind the detailed plan took place in full agreement.

In some cases, politicians went higher than what the officials suggested.

- We in the committee decided unanimously that, for example, Midrocs World trade center could be a little higher, and with that height deviation, they got a roof terrace, he says.

Should protect from noise

He rejects the proposal to put the expansion on hold, but is open to using more visual tools to see how the city's silhouette will be affected by future stages.

The highest buildings in Oceanhamnen have the task of acting as noise barriers against the ferry and the heavy traffic in the port.

- That is why we see slightly higher office properties, they should protect housing construction.

But Christian Orsing also says that there are things to learn from the first expansion.

- We have an ongoing work in the city planning committee and other parts of the city that will monitor the city's silhouette.

I think it is important that we learn from these stages when it comes to sight lines and water contact.
