China News Service, Glasgow, November 10-China and the United States issued the "Sino-US Glasgow Joint Declaration on Strengthening Climate Action in the 2020s" during the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow on the 10th.

The two sides agreed to establish a "Working Group on Enhanced Climate Action in the 2020s" to promote cooperation and multilateral processes on climate change between the two countries.

Xie Zhenhua, China’s special envoy for climate change affairs, said at a press conference after the official release of the "Sino-US Joint Declaration on Strengthening Climate Action in the 2020s" that the two sides decided to promote the institutionalization, specificity and pragmatism of Sino-US climate change cooperation. It plans to establish a working group on strengthening climate action in the 2020s, continue to carry out technical and policy exchanges, promote the participation of local governments, enterprises, think tanks and academia, and evaluate the implementation of the Shanghai Joint Declaration in April this year and this joint declaration.

"If we want to cooperate, we must have a mechanism, we must be pragmatic, and not just verbal, so we decided to establish a joint working group." Talking about the situation of the working group, Xie Zhenhua said that the main purpose is to solve the problem in the 1920s, that is, What actions will the two sides take before 2030, and what cooperation will be jointly promoted in the multilateral process?

He revealed that the working group is going to hold its first meeting in the first half of next year to carry out some practical and action-oriented cooperation on the power system, methane, and forest protection that the two sides want to develop.

"This is the task of the joint working group. Through the joint working group, we will be closer to each other and our actions will be more pragmatic." Xie Zhenhua said that the two sides also hope to cooperate with all aspects and work together to tackle the challenge of climate change.
