The Thai Constitutional Court ruled that the royal reforms that young people are seeking in the anti-government demonstrations that have continued since last year violate the constitution as an attempt to overthrow the constitutional monarchy headed by the king. I ordered you to stop the request.

Lawyers on the side of the demonstrators have complained that it is an unjust decision, saying that it will be difficult to even discuss what the country should be.

Since July last year, there have been a series of anti-government demonstrations by young people in Thailand, and in addition to demanding the resignation of the current administration, even discussions have been held on the abolition of blasphemy charges applied to slander against the royal family and the reduction of royal budget. There are also calls for reform of the royal system, which was considered taboo.

The Thai Constitutional Court said on the 10th that it was trying to overthrow the constitutional monarchy in response to the request for royal reform that university students raised last August, which was one of the reasons for such voices to spread. I showed the judgment that it violated.

The court then ordered the three young people who are at the center of their activities and the demonstrators involved in them not to demand any royal reforms in the future.

On the other hand, a lawyer on the side of the demonstrators said, "In the future, there is a risk of criminal accusation for attempting to overthrow the nation just by advocating royal reform, which will put further pressure on young people seeking a better society. It is an unjust judgment that it will be difficult to even discuss what the country should be.
