- I want a rent ceiling of SEK 6,500 to be introduced, says Sture Arnesson.

He previously paid SEK 3,390 in rent per month.

Now the monthly rent is SEK 7,990.

Two other residents have rents of SEK 8,500 a month.

- My boyfriend, when he has paid rent, bills and food, he has 1,800 to live on, says Sture Arnesson.

Social director Gunnar Wigstrand says that there is no financial scope for any rent reduction.

No space for rental roof

- It is unfortunate that it is so expensive, but it is a cost that it entailed in new construction, it is unfortunately so, says Gunnar Wigstrand.

He states that an investigation has been made in the administration to introduce rent ceilings.

- But we did not have the financial space for it.

According to the social director, there are about 20 people in the municipality who are affected in a similar way.

The municipality's estimate is that a rental roof would cost a total of SEK 300,000 for Torsby municipality.

Refuses to pay the full rent

Sture Arnesson points out that for the municipality it would only be a temporary effort because the state housing supplement will probably be increased next year.

He has now taken matters into his own hands.

For several months, he has only paid SEK 6,500 for his principal's rent.

So now the Board of Supervisors is threatening to poke him as a good man - while the one he represents could be a case for the bailiff.

- What is it for people who do not stand up for this.

It shames them, yes the whole municipality should be ashamed, says Sture Arnesson.
