Poland-Belarus migrant crisis: states revolt each other, migrants trapped

Poland announced on Wednesday November 10 that it had launched a crackdown against the migrants massed at the border and made more than fifty arrests.

Several thousand refugees are still massed at the border on the Belarusian side facing the military system put in place by Poland.

Now 15,000 Polish soldiers have been deployed by Warsaw in the area.

The Polish Minister of Defense assures that there was not a massive attempt, on a single point of the border as was the case at the beginning of the week, but simultaneous attempts by small groups of migrants at different points from the border.

Polish police say they have arrested around 50 people accused of trying to cross the border illegally.

Poland accuses Belarus of

using force and

physical

threats

to coerce migrants into its territory.

For its part, Belarus denounces the violence exerted by the Polish military and police to prevent these migrants from crossing.

The situation therefore remains very tense and for the moment on the diplomatic front, nothing seems likely to change: Brussels is shaking up the threat of new sanctions against Belarus, the latter assures by the voice of its President Alexander Lukashenko that it does not will not kneel ”in front of Brussels.

For its part, Poland accuses Russia of Vladimir Putin, Belarus' main ally of being the real sponsor of this migratory crisis, an accusation rejected this Wednesday by the Kremlin: "

be absolutely irresponsible and unacceptable

", declared this morning Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for Vladimir Putin.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel asked Russian President Vladimir Poutine to "act" against "the instrumentalization of migrants" by Belarus.
