Henrik Holmberg, Västervik's hospital manager, says that due to renovations, staff and operations have been moved to other premises.

This has led to a gap in staffing in one of the places.

According to Henrik Holmberg, they do not want to recruit temporary staff but want to invest in staff who have the right skills and know the medical clinic.

- We have an occupancy rate that allows us to reduce care places for a period, says Henrik Holmberg.

Promises care

He emphasizes that people who need care should not worry.

- Those who are in need of care will receive care.

The hospital plans to recruit more nurses to eventually reopen the care places.

Three places in Oskarshamn

At Oskarshamn Hospital, three of the nineteen places have been converted into overcrowding places.

- We do not close places, but on the other hand we should preferably not invest in three of the places, says hospital manager Christer Svensson.

In Oskarshamn, there has been a shortage of nurses due to several nurses in the ward resigning or going on parental leave.

Looking brightly at the future

According to Christer Svensson, new nurses have now been appointed but explain that they need time for introduction.

- The new nurses need to interact with the existing ones.

But in terms of the future, it looks bright.

The three care places will open as usual in February.
