Mohammed bin Rashid meets the President of Burundi and visits its pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met with Evariste Ndayishimi, President of the Republic of Burundi, and the accompanying delegation at the headquarters of the Burundi Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

His Highness discussed with the Burundian President the progress achieved in the relations of cooperation between the two countries and future prospects to enhance partnership opportunities in various development fields, especially in the field of infrastructure, technical development and investment, in light of the UAE's keenness to strengthen cooperation with Burundi and various countries of the African continent, and seek to discover more. One of the incentives for investment and encouraging the private sector in the two countries to raise the level of coordination and exchange of expertise and experiences to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.

The meeting also touched on discussing the overall situation and developments on the regional and international arenas, the development and development efforts witnessed by the African continent and at various scientific, economic and cultural levels, and plans aimed at benefiting from the rich natural resources that the continent enjoys, in a manner that serves the goals of sustainable development in most of its countries. In addition to reviewing the efforts made to confront the Covid-19 pandemic and ways to accelerate the recovery rates of African countries from its health, economic and social consequences.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed the UAE's interest in the development witnessed by the African continent in many fields, noting the positive growth of Emirati investments in different regions of the continent, in a way that supports the efforts to modernize the capabilities of several vital sectors, contributes to serving development goals and paves the way for broader areas. To cooperate in laying firm economic and knowledge foundations for greater stability and prosperity across the African continent and its friendly countries.

 The Burundian president expressed his country's appreciation to the UAE leadership and people, and Burundi's keenness to push forward the relations of cooperation between the two countries and raise them to higher levels that benefit both parties, while paving the way for more knowledge and cultural exchange as well as strengthening the paths of economic cooperation that are witnessing a steady development In light of the common desire to find focal points for a new launch of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especially in its trade, tourism, agricultural and other tracks, in a way that supports the Gulf-African cooperation in its broader scope.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee, and Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of the Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau.

In the field of adopting modern technologies and transitioning to the digital environment, and interest in modernizing capabilities that support the digital economy and sustainable development, the pavilion also presents investment opportunities available in several areas, including information and communication technology, green energy, mining, infrastructure and transportation.
