SVT has talked to the teacher Jörgen Aronsson who works at Lärvux, and taken part in an email conversation where the Lärvux principal confirms that a general decision that students should not be allowed to have assistants in the lessons should have recently been made by the work team.

But Komvux's school principal does not agree.

- It is not really right, but this way of working has been worked on for many years, she says.

So no decision was made in early September?

- The working method in the work team was clarified as new teachers were added.

In that way, it is a decision, says Veronica Svensson.

Each individual must be judged individually

According to the National Agency for Education, the issue of personal assistants is not specifically regulated in the school's statutes.

According to the Education Act, there is thus nothing that says that students should be able to bring an assistant to the lessons, but on the other hand, each individual's needs must be assessed.

- You can not make a general decision when it comes to student initiatives, it is clearly stated in the Education Act.

It must be adapted to the student's needs and conditions and then no general decisions can be made.

You have to look at each individual, says Eva-lisa Andersson, advisor at the Swedish Agency for Special Needs Education.

Municipal adult: Individual decisions are made

According to Komvux in Örebro, surveys are made based on the student's needs, and despite the general way of working that the educators must relate to, individual decisions are also made.

- Some students may find it difficult to have different people in the classroom as assistants are usually replaced.

For us, it is important that the student can reach their goals, says Veronica Svensson.
