Central African Republic: opposition sets conditions to re-enter dialogue

At the end of last October, representatives of the opposition announced their withdrawal from the preparatory committee for the republican dialogue promised by President Touadéra the day after his re-election.

A sign of protest against the reactivation of the procedure for lifting parliamentary immunity which weighs on three of them.

The procedure was finally suspended by the President of the National Assembly, but opponents are now demanding its final withdrawal.

Around the table, 10 opponents invited to the Renaissance Palace by President Touadéra himself surrounded by his chief of staff, his diplomatic advisor and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

300 million to complete the budget

The face-to-face meeting lasts over an hour.

The head of state promises that the case is closed, but this is not enough to

who demand a final stop of the proceedings. 

Powers are separate and justice is independent, answer the authorities.

But the prosecution takes its orders from the ministry retorts the opposition.

No decision is taken, the ball is in the court of power, believes Me Tiangaye more and more pessimistic about the holding of the dialogue this year.

More than 300 million CFA are still lacking to make ends meet.
