A 19-year-old Maghreb young man with numerous police records was arrested last Thursday night by the police
accused of burning and assaulting three homeless people who were sleeping in the arcade of a bar kiosk that had been closed
for a long time inside the Casino de la Reina park, located between the Ronda de Toledo and the Glorieta de Embajadores.
Only one of the three
homeless
suffered severe burns to his legs. The other two were able to escape the flames and escape unscathed. The wounded man, a 44-year-old Moroccan man,
was transferred by a Samur ambulance to the Jiménez Díaz Foundation,
according to Emergencias Madrid. He suffered burns on both legs and bruises. According to the first investigations, the attacker was the victim of the theft of his mobile phone and accused of the theft several Moroccan compatriots who usually sleep in the arcade of the casino park bar.

Officers provided aid to the injured while firefighters rushed to the scene.

a 19-year-old Moroccan youth who has been arrested eight times since he came of age,

He was brought to justice on Saturday morning for an alleged crime of injury and another crime of arson.
The judge on duty ordered his entry after the request of the Prosecutor's Office.
The Casino de la Reina park is fenced and closes at 10 p.m., but
there is a small fence on Casino Street through which many people
enter the enclosure in search of a nook to sleep. "The injured are three men who are usually around here, but we do not know what happened," said one of the people who spent the night in the park the night before last.
Manuel Osuna, spokesman for the Corrala Lavapiés Neighborhood Association, assures that the kiosk where the attack occurred has been closed for a few months.
He also adds that
crime in the Lavapiés neighborhood remains at the level of other times
and has not grown much after the pandemic: "We have the usual problems and if it is true that there are some spikes in dealing, but there is also a lot of presence police ".
