  The Iraqi security department confirmed on the 7th that Kadimi’s official residence in the "Green Zone" of Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, was attacked by a suicide drone that day. Kadimi himself was safe, but several guards were injured.

The Iraqi security department later called the attack an assassination against Kadimi, and Kadimi denounced the attack as "a cowardly terrorist attack launched by an armed criminal group."

  At present, no organization or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Some analysts believe that the incident may be related to the protests caused by dissatisfaction with the results of the general election.

  The UN Security Council issued a media statement condemning the attack in "the strongest terms" and reiterated its firm support for Iraq’s independence, sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, democratic process, and development and prosperity. At the same time, it urges all countries to implement international law and relevant Security Council resolutions. Under the stipulated obligations, actively cooperate with the Iraqi government and relevant parties to help bring those responsible for the attack to justice.

UN Secretary-General Guterres also called on all Iraqis to exercise maximum restraint and reject all violence and any attempt to destabilize Iraq.

  Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zakharova said that Russia strongly condemns this bold terrorist attack, which is aimed at undermining the security and stability of Iraq.

  British Prime Minister Johnson’s office said after he had a phone call with Kadimi that Johnson strongly condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the injured.

Johnson made it clear that the British side supports the Iraqi people and Kadimi's efforts to form a government after the election.

  Said Khatibzad, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that such attacks are in the interests of those forces that "undermined the security and stability of Iraq and violated its independence and territorial integrity in the past 18 years."

Ali Shamhani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, believes that the attack is a "new form of sedition."
