In the text of the resolution, Keating stressed that the United States condemns "the illegal presence of the Russian armed forces in the Transnistrian region of Moldova."

"The House of Representatives calls for the withdrawal of all forces and means belonging to the Russian security services or the armed forces from the sovereign territory of Moldova," the document says.

In addition, the draft resolution expresses support for Moldova on its path to "promoting democracy" and "European integration".

It also notes the need to help "the aspirations of the people of Moldova to strengthen ties with the US transatlantic partners."

According to the congressman, it is in the interests of Washington and its allies to promote "democratic governance, energy security and economic growth" in this country.

Recall that Moscow has repeatedly emphasized that Russian peacekeepers are in Transnistria on a legal basis.

Earlier, former President of Moldova Igor Dodon spoke in favor of keeping the peacekeepers.

In his opinion, those who call for the withdrawal of the contingent do not understand the importance of his presence or "want provocations."

Last year, President-elect Maia Sandu said the Russian Armed Forces should leave Transnistria.

Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his readiness to withdraw the peacekeepers, but only when the situation in the region allows.
