The emergency department has previously made overall operational improvements that can be a salvation when the slippery days have arrived.

Among other things, there is a larger waiting room that can accommodate more patients. 

- There is also a new flow track where a team of nurses, assistant nurses, orthopedic doctors and emergency physicians who receive, among other things, orthopedic patients, says Paula Johagen, operations manager for the emergency department in Umeå.

"Surprising with snow and ice"

At the orthopedic clinic in Umeå, it is noticeable that the slip comes every autumn.

They are therefore refurbishing so that there are emergency services that can help if there is an influx of patients.

- It is usually surprising that there is snow and ice every autumn.

We saw last season that we had a lot of people with forearm and ankle fractures, says Stig-Evert Tornberg, operations manager for the Movement Agency's center in Västerbotten.
