Shadow Theater revives the music of Igor Stravinsky's "Firebird Ballet"

Teatro Gyoko Vita presented the shadow play "The Firebird", as part of the entertainment and cultural events organized by "Expo 2020 Dubai", at the Dubai Exhibition Centre.

The company presented one of its most important and most famous productions, the "Shadow Game", which is based entirely on the dance narration of an ancient tale, which unfolds through the use of light and its absence, and through body movements that follow music in a suggestive balance that ranges between figurative and abstract at times, reality and imagination at other times. To revive one of the most important pieces of music composed by the Russian composer, Igor Stravinsky in 1910 for the Russian Ballet.

The play brought Stravinsky's musical works to life again through this play, which presents a tale that is told through music and dance, in line with the artworks presented by the "Teatro Gyoko Vita" company since 1971, which is interested in producing plays for young people that mix animations and shadows, as well as She was able to demonstrate the wonderful potential of shadow theatre, choosing dance as a language that acts as a fascinating medium in the accompaniment of music.

Two actors and one dancer moved on stage to present an imaginary painting inspired by the world of paintings by Italian artist Enrico Bag, while dancing and images blended together in a perfect balance between figurative and abstract.

The director of the play, Fabrizio Monchi, said: “Showing the play at (Expo 2020) is really wonderful, because of the relationship that can arise between us and the audience. ) that was presented, while other times they are really fascinated by all the details of the show.”

He continued: “Through Shadow Theater, we start with a new concept, which combines ancient traditions, such as Javanese, Indian, Thai and Cambodian, and that is why our theater is filled with elements that are really related to these ancient traditions, and that also reflects the slogan (Expo 2020 Dubai), (Connecting Minds, Creating the Future). ».

Munshi adds: "We deliberately presented this special show accompanied by music only, without words, so that each audience member decides for himself into which language he will translate the play, and this is our desire to present this show to the largest number of audiences, young and old."
