"TV total" returns to German television with new episodes - but then without Stefan Raab as a presenter.

This Wednesday, the comedy show should be back on ProSieben at 8:15 p.m., as the broadcaster announced on Monday in Unterföhring near Munich.

The new host will be the comedian Sebastian Pufpaff, who presented his first program on 3sat with “Pufpaffs Happy Hour”.

The 45-year-old received the Grimme Prize for entertainment this year.

"TV total" ran from 1999 to 2015 on ProSieben.

Back then, Stefan Raab had collected bizarre finds from the television world and dragged talk show guests through the cocoa as well as celebrities and politicians.

Hardly any changes

"We are there to judge, evaluate and punish," said Pufpaff.

He is ten years younger than “TV total” inventor Raab, who will be producing the show.

However, the first trailer does not reveal any major changes to the show.

The catchy melody should apparently stay the same.

The format is best known for clips of the strange appearances of talk show guests, which were often torn out of context as a gag. For example, in 1999 Raab (55) composed the number one hit “Maschen-Draht-Zaun” from such an excerpt. "TV total" is now considered a cult program that has produced many great television moments. Raab has won many prizes with it. In 2015, he surprisingly announced his screen farewell.

"Six years after Stefan moderated the last edition," TV total "is back at ProSieben," said channel boss Daniel Rosemann.

“A lot of fun in its original version.

From now on, week after week at 8:15 pm. ”In the past few days, ProSieben had already fueled speculation in the media about a return with a trailer.

The show is scheduled to run on prime-time Wednesdays.

The comeback of "TV total" coincides with various other revivals of earlier show formats on German television.

Last weekend, for example, ZDF had pulled the Saturday night classic “Wetten, dass ..?” - once again - out of the blue.
