For acts of "theft with break and enter" and "attempted theft with break and enter", two men were sentenced to six months in prison by the criminal court of Albertville (Savoie).

Two other defendants, absent, were sentenced to eight months' imprisonment at the end of the hearing held this Friday, reports

The facts date back to September 11, 2016. The manager of a metal recovery company located in Saint-Marcel (Savoie) had alerted the police to the presence of burglars on his site.

Deployed on the scene, the gendarmes had caught in the act five men from Romania.

The company targeted twice

Two of them had been arrested on the spot and three others had managed to escape.

During the arrest, the gendarmes had discovered several pieces of copper in the van used for the theft.

The weight of the booty amounted to 460 kg.

The two men arrested at the scene had not denied the facts.

They even confessed to having come to rob the same business for the first time a week earlier.

Two of the individuals who had fled were arrested in 2018. In addition to prison sentences carried out under electronic surveillance, the court imposed a fine of 500 euros against each of the accused.
