  General Alexander Rabin, commander of the Central Russian Military Region, said at the opening ceremony that, under current conditions, in order to eliminate potential threats, the member states of the Collective Security Organization need more than ever to unite and cooperate.

"We must be fully prepared at all times to ensure the security and peace of our country."

  More than 1,800 soldiers from the 6 member states of Ji'an participated in the exercise, using more than 300 weapons and equipment, including 8 Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters, and two Su-34 fighter-bombers.

  The Russian soldiers participating in the exercise were mainly from the independent peacekeeping forces of the Central Russia Military Region stationed in Samara Region.

In addition, Russia also sent troops from the military region such as communications, special operations, electronic warfare, nuclear, biological and chemical protection, and military police to participate in the exercise.

  It is reported that the exercise will be divided into two stages.

The first phase of the exercise included the formulation and implementation of a peacekeeping operation plan, the establishment and protection of refugee camps, the escort of humanitarian supplies, and the establishment of checkpoints.

The second phase of the exercise included a tactical exercise to block and annihilate settlements occupied by illegal armed groups.

The joint military exercise will continue until the 12th of this month.

  Ji'an was established in May 2002 and evolved from the CIS collective security treaty signed in 1992. It currently has 6 member states including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan.
