Iranian Foreign Minister: Iran’s nuclear negotiations must fulfill its promise to normalize Iran’s trade relations

Xinhua News Agency, Tehran, November 8th (Reporter Gao Wencheng and Wang Shoubao) Iranian Foreign Minister Abdullahhiyan stated on the 8th that the normalization of trade relations with Iran is one of the commitments made by relevant parties in the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue. The Iranian nuclear negotiations in Vienna, the Austrian capital, must fulfill this promise.

According to news published on the website of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdullahhiyan said in a telephone conversation with British Foreign and Development Secretary Tlasz that the current Iranian nuclear predicament was caused by the United States.

For the Vienna negotiations to succeed, it is necessary to lift all sanctions against Iran, resume the implementation of the contract by all parties, and ensure that the results of the talks are implemented.

Abdullahhiyan stated that after the Iran nuclear agreement was reached in 2015, most of the trade agreements between Iran and the United Kingdom have not been implemented, and the United Kingdom needs to play a more active role in increasing bilateral trade and promoting financial ties.

Iran and the European Union announced on the 3rd of this month that the Iranian nuclear talks will be restarted in Vienna on the 29th.

The Iranian side stated that the lifting of the US sanctions against Iran and the resumption of compliance by all parties will be the main agenda of the negotiations.

In July 2015, Iran reached an Iran nuclear agreement with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany.

In May 2018, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement, and subsequently restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iran.

Since May 2019, Iran has gradually suspended the implementation of certain provisions of the Iran nuclear agreement, but promised that the measures taken are "reversible."

The talks between the parties involved in the Iranian nuclear agreement began in Vienna in April this year to discuss the issue of the United States and Iran resuming the implementation of the agreement. Six rounds have been held so far.

Due to serious differences between the United States and Iran and the change of leadership of the Iranian government, a new round of talks has not been held for a long time.
