Daniel Ortega leads Nicaragua's presidential election with 75.92% of the vote

"The Sandinista Front Alliance is gaining 2,053,342 votes, or 75.92%," she told reporters, RIA Novosti quoted Rocha as saying.

The turnout in the elections was 65.23%, she said.

Elections in Nicaragua were held on November 7.

Daniel Ortega is elected together with his wife, Vice President of Rosario Murillo.

US President Joe Biden called the electoral process a sham.

The elections were "neither free nor fair" and "definitely not democratic," he said.

The EU Council said that the elections in Nicaragua "were held without democratic guarantees, and their results lacked legitimacy."

At the same time, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro congratulated Daniel Ortega on his re-election, and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel also joined the congratulations.
