Wrong world? While the corona numbers are shooting up to new record highs and the executive federal government is urging caution, the traffic light coalition is already calling for the end of the epidemic situation. Everyone has their role. The government, in which the SPD already sits, still has responsibility, while the new alliance has to live up to its promises of salvation. Above all, freedom is part of the brand essence of the FDP; and it's not just about environmental issues. It is not about letting everything go, but first of all about the basic understanding that lack of freedom is not normal and state restrictions require justification.

In any case, the traffic light - unlike the Corona traffic light in Bavaria - is green because it knows that citizens are not only fed up with Corona, but also the restrictions. That is why the incumbent federal government announced early on that there would be no further lockdown; quite apart from the holy oath “No compulsory vaccination”. That was unnecessary: especially in an uncertain situation, you have to keep all options open. The decision to return to free tests combined with the admission of a bug shows flexibility.

On the other hand, mandatory impositions are taboo.

Because politics is afraid.

Coercion as a last resort can be justified, especially for caring professions, which otherwise have to meet hygiene requirements - in order to save lives.

But there is a fear of deepening trenches and losing staff.

However, the demand for stricter corona rules seems bigoted anyway, as long as Deutsche Bahn, for example, is on the move like a rolling Petri dish and is also not checked in the catering industry in many places.

Zero G applies. The desire for barrier-free sales counts more than an effective fight against the pandemic.

As long as the state approves this, it can only dream of tougher measures.
