- We saw an increase already in 2020, but this year we have a stronger increase in the number of installations.

So far this year, it has increased by 43 percent and we estimate that it will increase by 50 percent when the year is over, says the CEO of Swedish Solar Energy, Anna Werner to SVT News.

Measured in installed capacity and production capacity, energy from solar energy is estimated to increase by 60 percent this year and exceed a total of 1 terawatt hour.

This can be compared with the total production of 159 terawatt hours produced in Sweden last year.

- We clearly see climate change as a contributing factor but also the green tax deduction introduced this year where you get 15 percent of the cost of installation.

The high electricity prices can also have an effect, says CEO Anna Werner.

Long time before you have earned the cost

Håkan Ottosson in Norrköping has just had his solar cells installed on the roof.

- It is a small contribution to the environment even if it is a drop in the ocean.

But then it is also to be able to earn a few kroner in the long run, he says.

A photovoltaic system on the roof costs approximately SEK 100,000–150,000 after the green tax deduction.

- The calculation we received from the company shows that it takes 10-12 years before you have earned the cost.

But at the same time, it also increases the value of the property, says Håkan Ottosson.
