During the night of Saturday 6 to Sunday 7 November, a very agitated young man went to meet an unmarked police car that was driving in Villeurbanne.

He took a knife out of his pocket and threatened the three police officers in the vehicle, who sprayed him with tear gas.

Taken to the police station in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon, the 24-year-old allegedly made incoherent remarks and shouted "Allah akbar".

The police were forced to use a taser gun to neutralize him.
