The global success of the

Squid Game

series

,

broadcast on Netflix, is not only happy.

Indeed, a 32-year-old British streamer has been calling herself "Squid Game" for eleven years.

But Lydia Ellery recently let it be known that the series of the same name had made her lose part of her job,

Phonandroid

reported

Thursday according to information from the BBC.

Why ?

According to the woman, who has more than 43,000 Twitch subscribers, several companies she has worked with until now no longer wish to be associated with the name.

“I guess those are the connotations of the series.

It's a very violent spectacle, maybe that's it?

She asks herself.

Looks like I might have to change my handle after all.

I've lost 2 amazing presenting opportunities because people don't want to hire me with my "squid game" handle.

This is really getting me down now.

"I received a lot of hate from the fans"

But that's not all, Lydia Ellery must also face a flood of hate messages from Internet users who believe that the streamer has appropriated this name in order to ride on the success of the series.

“I received a lot of hate from the fans and I was turned down for work because of it,” she says.

This wave of discontent even pushed some Internet users to try to hack Lydia Ellery's accounts.

“People were reporting my account and countless people tried to hack my account, I still get emails from people trying to log in,” she laments.

Faced with this situation, the young woman is now considering changing her name.
