A spokesman for the German Federal Police announced today, Saturday, that a knife attack occurred on board one of the express trains between the cities of Regsenburg and Nuremberg in the southern German state of Bavaria.

The spokesman explained that the train is currently stopped in the Zuipersdorf area.

According to data from the Bavarian radio station "BR24", several people were injured, while the Reuters news agency quoted the German daily Bild that 3 people were wounded in the attack.

A police spokesman told the radio that the background to the attack is still unknown, noting that the police received an emergency call this morning, and that they are at the scene.

A spokesman for the German railway company "Deutsche Bahn" said that the railway between the cities of Regsenburg and Nuremberg has been closed since nine o'clock.
