A memorial to Korean atomic bomb victims was erected in Nagasaki, Japan, after 27 years of construction.



On the morning of the 6th, the 'Unveiling Ceremony of the Monument to the Korean Atomic Bomb Victims' was held at the Peace Park in Nagasaki City in the presence of the Korean Ambassador to Japan Kang Chang-il.



On August 9, 1945, at the end of the Pacific War, an atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, killing about 74,000 people.



Of these, thousands to 10,000 are estimated to be from the Korean Peninsula, which was then a Japanese colony.



In Hiroshima, another atomic bombing area, a memorial to Korean victims of the atomic bombing was erected in the local Peace Memorial Park in 1970, and a memorial ceremony was held every year on August 5, the day before the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. could not be opened.



In response, Mindan Nagasaki Headquarters requested to provide a site for the erection of a memorial to Korean victims in May 1994, but it was rejected for various reasons, and it took 27 years to build today.
