After failing to take power by arms in January, at the head of the CPC rebellion, François Bozizé had retreated before the counter-offensive of the Central African armed forces and their Russian and Rwandan allies.

Since then it has been discreet, sometimes in the north of the Central African Republic, sometimes in the south of Chad.

He is now in Ndjamena, the Chadian capital, along with other rebel leaders.

This is what the Chadian government confirms, exclusively to RFI.

According to our information, François Bozizé lives in Ndjamena in a villa. He is accompanied by some elements of his close guard, specifies a member of his entourage. He left the south of Chad for the capital at the end of June, the beginning of July according to the same source. According to him, he would await progress in the mediation process initiated by Angola and the International Conference for the Great Lakes region.

Ndjamena specifies that the authorities in Bangui have been informed of this process.

Because if the former president is currently in Chad, it is at the request of Angola, specifies the Chadian government.

And this just like other rebel leaders of the CPC armed coalition.

Some are in the south of the country in Moundou, others in Ndjamena.

This is the case, for example, of Maxime Mokom, one of the anti-balaka leaders, Al-Khatim at the head of the MPC or General Bobo of the 3Rs.

The CPC coordinated by François Bozizé attempted to overthrow the Central African authorities

on January 13

.

Proceedings were opened by the Bangui prosecutor's office on January 4, notably for breach of state security.
