The City of Stockholm's green-blue majority decides on Monday to introduce requirements for a police permit for electric scooters.

This is the difference:

• The number of electric scooters will decrease from the current 23,000 to 12,000 at the turn of the year.

• The number of rental companies is limited from the current eight to three.

 • No company may have more than 4,000 electric scooters.

• There will be a speed limit of a maximum of 15 kilometers per hour on Friday and Saturday evenings from 10 pm.

• Electric scooters must be removed from sidewalks within two hours.

Fee is introduced

In connection with the regulation, a fee of SEK 1,400 per electric scooter will also be introduced, which Helldén hopes will lead to the companies taking better care of the bicycles.

The electric scooters are used for 60,000 trips daily in Stockholm, so there is a need, says Helldén and believes that the new rules do not aim to get rid of them.
