The municipality of Khorfakkan intensified its campaigns on the parks and green areas in the city in order to protect them and ensure their sustainability and to preserve the agricultural assets and elements of natural cosmetics and green areas and to preserve health and safety.

The campaigns implemented by the Department of Agriculture and Public Gardens in the Municipality of Khorfakkan were represented in continuous agricultural campaigns in the city, such as a campaign to clean old farms in the areas inhabited by farms, in order to get rid of harmful plants, move palm trees to new sites, clean green areas from rain residues, and replant the damaged parts. As a result of rain, in addition to the campaign of spraying palm infected with agricultural pests, which reduces its productivity.

The department also carries out continuous campaigns to trim and trim trees on some main roads and streets in the city of Khorfakkan, within the framework of the municipality’s keenness to take care of trees, and reshape them in innovative aesthetic and engineering forms, and to give some trees an opportunity to strengthen their trunks and re-grow them and treat the branches to reach their full natural growth. In addition to replacing new and large trees with old ones, they are better aesthetically and environmentally, and are of a smaller size to ensure that the infrastructure, homes and roads are not damaged.

The head of the Agriculture and Public Gardens Department in Khorfakkan Municipality, Salem Khalfan Al-Dhinin, stated that the Municipal Agriculture Department is working on implementing projects of agriculture, afforestation and establishing green spaces with an estimated capacity of 300 workers, in addition to the office staff, which is estimated at 40 employees, according to an annual plan to increase the green spaces in the city from During the cultivation of different types of trees, shrubs, soil data and flowers.

He noted that the cultivated areas in the municipality's areas amounted to 712 thousand square meters, which included afforestation projects, soil settlement and planting with many palm trees, green grass and seasonal flowers. And ornamental plants, with a cultivated area of ​​more than 6000 square meters, in addition to the completion of the Yarmouk rope project and the green surface in Khor Fakkan Park with an area of ​​​​15,000 square meters, and the new municipal nursery in the “Al-Har” area with an area of ​​​​1330 square meters, and the flagpole with an area of ​​more than 14 1,000 square meters, and the Mount Monument project of 5,000 square meters, and in all those places, many varieties of seasonal flowers and different types of plants were planted with which the public streets were decorated.

Regarding the agricultural projects under implementation, Al-Dhainin stressed that the efforts of his department in the municipality do not stop, and work is being done on many projects that aim to increase the green area in the city of Khorfakkan, such as landscaping and planting mountains opposite the University of Sharjah, Khorfakkan branch, and work in the second phase of mountain cultivation with the cloud rest and the cultivation of the university’s surfaces. The planting of the mountain opposite the Rafisah Dam and the planting of jacaranda trees in the mountain of Shis Garden with about 120 trees, and the planting of the Al-Madifi and Nahwa Sha’biyeh gardens.
