Until now, the so-called "3G" rule applied in Austria: to go to restaurants, sports halls or even cultural places, you had to prove that you were either vaccinated or recently recovered. of the coronavirus, be tested.

From this Monday, the “2G” rule will apply, from now on only people vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19 will be able to access these services.

A one-month transition period will however allow those who have received a first dose of vaccine and who can justify a negative PCR test to be able to attend these places.

Wearing the FFP2 mask is also becoming compulsory in shops and museums.

These measures were made necessary by the increase in the number of daily contaminations in recent days.

This Friday more than 9,300 new cases were identified in the country.

With these measures, the government hopes, above all, to convince the Austrians, hitherto reluctant, to be vaccinated.

To date, 64% of them have received their two doses.
