Only three big weeks to wait.

On the evening of November 26, the Strasbourg Christmas market will open its doors for a month of festivities.

The 2020 edition canceled due to the health crisis, the meeting with the two million annual visitors is eagerly awaited.

But also feared, three years after the attacks of December 11, 2018 in the Alsatian capital.

Since then, the security system had been greatly strengthened, in particular with the establishment of checkpoints at each entrance to the city center, at certain times.

All this had gradually irritated a majority of Strasbourg people, searched morning and evening.

This year, these famous systematic checks will no longer take place.

Instead, law enforcement will conduct random checks at any time and place.

Large objects will always be the subject of systematic excavations.

Access to the Big Island will always be filtered for vehicles and prohibited parking.

Finally, all tram stops will be served, with the exception of the one at Place Broglie.

On the health side, wearing a mask will be compulsory but not presenting the famous pass.

"The Christmas market will be convivial and joyful but placed under close surveillance, without hindering the daily life of the inhabitants", rejoiced the mayor of Strasbourg Jeanne Barseghian.
