The 2020 National Science and Technology Awards Conference will be held in Beijing on November 3.
Wang Dazhong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an internationally renowned nuclear energy scientist, won the 2020 National Highest Science and Technology Award.
Born in February 1935, Wang Dazhong is a professor and former president of Tsinghua University, an internationally renowned nuclear energy scientist, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
He has worked in the field of advanced nuclear energy technology research and development for decades, presided over the research, design, and construction of the world's first 5MW shell-type integrated low-temperature nuclear heating reactor and the world's first 10MW modular pebble bed with inherent safety features. High-temperature gas-cooled experimental reactor, and vigorously promote the application of the above two advanced reactor technologies.
He led the nuclear energy research team of Tsinghua University to improve the safety of nuclear energy as the main academic philosophy, allowing my country's inherently safe nuclear power technology to lead the world; he actively explored the path of building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, and made important contributions to the reform and development of China's higher education.
