Local media reported all at once that the Japanese government has decided to gradually allow entry of foreigners as early as next week.

Priority is given to short-term business travelers of less than 3 months. The condition is that Japanese companies or organizations report in advance their accommodation and destination in Japan, and submit proof of vaccination and negative proof just before entering the country.

The quarantine period is also reduced to three days for those vaccinated against Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca, approved by the Japanese government.

On the other hand, US Janssen and those vaccinated in China are likely to maintain their existing two-week quarantine.

Nihon Keizai Shimbun reports that the Japanese government is seeking to stay longer than 3 months for business purposes, including business expatriates. He said that he is also considering issuing new visas to foreign nationals who wish to apply.

The Japanese government has been suspending the issuance of new visas since January to prevent the influx of the coronavirus.

It is known that tourists are not included in the easing of entry restrictions.

However, the Yomiuri Shimbun reported that it is also being discussed whether or not to allow entry on condition that only foreign group tours will be allowed to visit as a condition of restricting visits.

Although the main purpose of deregulation is to revive the economy and secure foreign workers, the situation is still flexible depending on whether the corona virus re-spreads.
