"During the discussions at the plenary session, Stoltenberg noted that the doors to NATO are open for Finland and Sweden, but he will not advise the Prime Ministers of Sweden or Finland on membership," TASS quoted a press release from the Nordic Council.
Stoltenberg also said that Northern Europe is strategically important for the alliance, especially in the face of growing tensions with Russia.
