"Alkhanov was placed in a pre-trial detention center," a source in the region's law enforcement agencies told RIA Novosti.
Magomed Alkhanov, convicted of banditry, escaped from custody from a department of a psychiatric hospital in Astrakhan on October 26.
They managed to detain him in a local cafe in Astrakhan a week later.
Alkhanov was identified by residents of the region and reported to the police.
Earlier, the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Astrakhan region announced a reward of 100 thousand rubles for assistance in the search and capture of Basayev's gang member Magomed Alkhanov, who escaped from a mental hospital in Astrakhan.
