Syrian official media quoted a military source as saying that Israel launched - in the early hours of today, Wednesday - a missile attack on a point in the Damascus countryside, which resulted in material losses.

The source explained that the attack was carried out "with a number of missiles from the direction of northern occupied Palestine, targeting a point in the Damascus countryside in the Zakia area," according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA).

The Israeli authorities did not issue an official comment on the new attack, which is the norm after every bombing of targets in Syria during the past years.

Israel has launched hundreds of raids on Syria since mid-March 2011.

And at the end of last October, two Syrian soldiers were injured as a result of an Israeli missile strike targeting the Damascus countryside, and was preceded by the killing of 9 fighters loyal to Damascus in the middle of the same month, in an Israeli bombing that targeted the Palmyra area in Homs Governorate (central country).
