  Born in February 1930, Gu Songfen is a researcher of China Aviation Industry Corporation, a master of aircraft design in New China, founder of aircraft aerodynamic design, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

  Gu Songfen is committed to promoting the development of China's aviation science and technology, innovatively designing the aerodynamic layout of multi-type aircraft, and establishing a new Chinese aircraft aerodynamic design system.

He presided over the development of the J-8 and J-8 II supersonic fighters, creating a precedent for China's independent development of fighters. The J-8 series of aircraft were the core main battle equipment of the Chinese military in the 20th century.
