Health Minister Jens Spahn is once again bringing hectic unrest to corona politics: A month ago all vaccination centers were closed, now Spahn would like to reopen them.

The vaccination rate is not increasing as it should, the elderly are recommended to have a booster vaccination in order to be optimally equipped against the coronavirus.

The minister's actionism is intended to suggest that more offers would also lead to more vaccinations.

But there is no shortage of offers in Hessen.

The health authorities have learned from the past few years and know that it takes a lot of helping hands to get closer to the goal of herd immunity.

From Kassel via Gießen and Frankfurt to Darmstadt, the cities continue to operate vaccination stations.

The large vaccination centers have been dismantled, but the knowledge of how to distribute the syringes to larger groups has remained.

Mobile teams offer immunizations in the area, they visit home residents and religious communities, sports clubs and schools.

People who were barely reached by the campaign have their vaccinations brought in, so to speak.

Unnecessary jostling and hectic from Berlin

Doctors in private practice have also been able to gain experience with vaccinations against the coronavirus in their practices for months.

They have administered the active ingredients from BioNTech and Moderna tens of thousands of times and are sufficiently stocked with them.

Anyone who wants to be vaccinated can get an appointment at short notice anywhere in Hessen.

The alarmist announcement by the health minister does one thing above all: it increases the concern of all vaccinated people that they may not get a third injection.

And thus not being as well equipped as possible for the winter in view of the rapidly increasing number of infections.

The urgency has not been identified at all.

The panel of experts of the Standing Vaccination Commission (STIKO) has not yet decided whether a booster vaccination is useful and necessary for everyone.

The panel recommends booster vaccinations only to seniors and health workers or who have received a single vaccination from Johnson & Johnson.

If the STIKO should recommend a booster vaccination to all of us, there will be enough vaccine and enough vaccination offers in Hesse.

Without any hustle and bustle from Berlin.
