In Lagos, Nigeria's largest city in West Africa, a skyscraper under construction collapsed, killing at least four people and possibly underlaying multiple construction workers, according to local sources. Rescue activities are being continued.

A skyscraper under construction collapsed on the 1st in Lagos, Nigeria's largest city.

The footage of the site shows the debris of a collapsed building piled up, and a large machine is used to remove the debris.

At least four people have been confirmed dead so far, AFP news agency reported, officials said.

Reuters also said that construction workers said that there were a large number of people working at the site at the time, some of which could be underlaying debris.

The cause of the collapse of the building is unknown, but in Nigeria there have been accidents in which the building collapsed and caused casualties.

In the background, local media have pointed out that while the population is rapidly increasing to about 200 million, which is the largest in Africa, building construction work may be continued in various places without strict building regulations.
