The Swedish Farmers' Association (LRF) in Östergötland recently conducted a survey and it was clear that not everyone saw the wild boar within the county in the same way.

Despite the fact that the Swedish Hunters' Association in Östergötland sees that the wild boar population has decreased significantly, albeit with local deviations, some farmers are experiencing an increase in damage.

- One third thought it had decreased, one third thought it was unchanged and one third experienced an increase, says Jonas Edlund, game manager at LRF in Östergötland.

Divided opinions

The divided opinions may be due to the fact that the problems can be very local.

If a hunter shoots a lot of wild boar in an area, they can move on to a new area and roost there instead.

- Farmers want to produce food for the Swedish people, not for the game tribes, says Jonas Edlund.
